What is ISO?

ISO accreditation is a seal of approval from a third party body, international standards developed and published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) to show a measure of competency for a company. An independent, non-governmental international organization, ISO develops international standards that support innovation and provide solutions to global challenges.

Long History of High Laboratory Standards

Back in 1979, Biotics Research started as a laboratory, performing tests such as disintegration dissolution, pH, moisture analysis, optical rotation (discern between natural and synthetic vitamins), UV spec and atomic absorption spectrometry (allowed to test for metals). The lab expanded into a clinical laboratory, and eventually became a center for genetic testing.

Receiving ISO accreditation is not typical for in-house labs, but is a natural next step for Biotics Research. ISO accreditation includes passing a comprehensive assessment and review of their lab’s quality management system and competence to perform specific tests.

Different Methodologies Utilized Include:

  • HPLCMS
  • Thin layer chromatography TLC
  • ICPOSICPMS
  • Gel electrophoresis
  • GCMS
  • Multiwavelength UV spectroscopy
  • FTIR
  • Additional methodologies

ISO/IEC 17025:2017 has been granted for the chemical analysis of heavy metals, mineral nutrients, water-soluble vitamins, fat-soluble vitamins, and coenzyme Q10.
